Rachelle Gaudet

Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology

Rachelle Gaudet grew up near Quebec City, dreaming of a career in architecture. But she fell in love with science in high school chemistry and completed a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry at Université de Montréal. That is where she was introduced to structural biology, and from then on, she was hooked! She completed a PhD at Yale University, and a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University. She has been on the faculty in Harvard’s Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology since 2002. She is interested in the molecular mechanisms of transport and signaling across cellular membranes, with a particular fascination for the proteins that are involved in sensory signaling. When Rachelle needs a respite from science, you can often find her enjoying nature photography or on the dance floor, doing the Lindy Hop - the original form of swing dancing to big band music, a hobby she shares with family and friends.
